Pioneer Festival Schedule 2012 - TBA - apply now!

We are now accepting applications from pioneer, early (pre-1870's) American craft skills, craft demonstrators and period entertainers who would like to be included in the event schedule and list of demonstrations for the Stone's Trace 2012 Pioneer Festival which will occur on September 8 & 9, 2012.

If you have a pre-1870's, craft demonstration or entertainment talent (as it would have been before 1870) to offer for the education or enjoyment of our guests, please apply to the contacts at the bottom of this page no later than March 1st, 2012 since space in the September 2012 Festival Schedule is limited. Thank you!

Also for your entertainment and great fun for the kids

  • Visit Brad Kepler - The Great Lakes Minstrel - for his music show and limberjacks
  • Stop and talk to Johnny Appleseed who will be strolling our festival passing out "purty stones" and telling stories
  • Interact with Theater 33 drama group representing the Stone family living in Stone's Tavern
  • Watch Stone's Trace Regulators demonstrate "black" powder shooting, primitive archery, and hawk & knife throwing
  • Visit the blacksmith shop
  • Walk through the Indiana 44th & Virginia 50th Civil War encampment, the military field hospital & sanitary commission
  • Participate in kid-oriented games and activities including live farm animals and face painting
  • Listen to Mark Gropp play the bagpipes and march with him to the flag raising and lowering
  • Watch the black powder, log splitting demonstrations each day

There are plenty of food & drink vendors. Bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on while enjoying the entertainment. FREE parking at West Noble Schools across the highway from Stone's Tavern with FREE shuttle bus transportation to the festival.
NO PETS. Admission $5 per person, children under 12 free. Handicap Accessible.
